Drummer BRYAN 'BRAIN' MANTIA Discusses Recording Process For GUNS N' ROSES' 'Chinese Democracy'
October 15, 2008EQmag.tv has posted video footage of (former?) GUNS N' ROSES drummer Bryan "Brain" Mantia talking about how he recorded the drum tracks for GN'R's long-awaited new album, "Chinese Democracy". Watch the clip at this location.
Mantia hasn't performed with GUNS N' ROSES since 2006 when his wife gave birth to a baby daughter. He was replaced on the road by Frank Ferrer, a friend of GUNS guitarist Richard Fortus, who has previously played for the PSYCHEDELIC FURS, PERRY FARRELL and HONKY TOAST, among others.
Brain toured extensively with PRIMUS and played on the band's releases "Brown Album", "Rhinoplasty", and "Antipop". In 2000, Axl Rose invited Brain to join GUNS N' ROSES, with whom the drummer appeared for sporadic live dates in 2001 (including the Rock in Rio II festival) and 2002 (including the MTV Video Music Awards) plus several "warm-up" shows in New York City in 2006.
